The World Premiere Benefit Screening of Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones

CMF was chosen by George Lucas as one of eleven charities, out of 1,100 nominated nationwide, to host the Northern California premiere screening of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones in San Francisco. One thousand guests attended the premiere benefit and 140 seats were underwritten for underprivileged children in CMF's mentoring programs. The event raised $250,000 and attracted celebrity guests and dignitaries such as George Lucas, Carrie Fisher, Steve Young, Tracey Ullman, California Attorney General Bill Lockyer, and San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown.

National Mentor Summit, Disneyland Resort, Anaheim, CA

The National Mentor Summits provided training to mentor programs and coalitions; recruited businesses to support mentoring, celebrated the success of mentoring, and highlighted the public private partnership of the California Mentor Initiative (CMI) with the California Mentor Foundation (CMF). The primary focus of the National Mentor Summit is on exploring ways to build partnerships to accomplish mutual goals while developing ways to emphasize accountability of mentoring successes. Since its inception in 1998, our biggest corporate sponsor, Disneyland Resort, has hosted the California Mentor Summit for the past four years.
